Taxation (Annual Rates for 2018–2019, Modernising Tax Administration, and Remedial Matters) Bill — Supplementary order papers

On Tuesday 19 February, the Minister of Revenue, the Hon Stuart Nash, introduced two supplementary order papers (SOPs) to the Taxation (Annual Rates for 2018–2019, Modernising Tax Administration, and Remedial Matters) Bill, which was introduced on 28 June 2018 and reported back on 16 January 2019.SOP 188 proposes minor remedial amendments. In addition to minor remedial amendments, the SOP also proposes that:

  • Income derived for the purposes of the purchase of disability support services be exempt income (new s CW52B inserted), and
  • Group companies be included in the ASX-listed companies demerger dividend exemption (s ED 2B amended).

SOP 189 proposes minor remedial amendments. It also proposes that the New Zealand Memorial Museum Trust — Le Quesnoy be treated as a donee organisation under sch 32 for a period of approximately four years. Gifts of money to trust may be eligible for donee organisation tax breaks (new s YZ 5 inserted).
